At long, long last – the raw funk of Gizelle Smith and the Mighty Mocambos hits Manchester, with the powerhouse sound of Band on the Wall behind them.
Step Up! is club night presented by Matt Halsall of Gondwana records and features himself, Kelvin Brown (Electric Chair/Eyes Down) et moi playing records on the night.
You might know the Mocambo sound from their series of 45s, or the BIG funk version of THE MESSAGE that came out back in 2008 under a pseudonym…
