Eglo Records‘ Fatima and Funkineven collaborate once again, proving to be an unstoppable force with an original take on contemporary UK soul and dance music. Fatima’s universal approach to Funkineven’s tilted West London swing creates a chemistry and understanding reminiscent of the greats that came before them. 808′s and MPC’s run amok whilst Fatima injects the soul and sex appeal with her sultry vocal. Their previous collaborative efforts includeFunkineven’s ’Kleer’ (2009) as well as Fatima’s ‘Soul Glo’ and ‘On The Go’ taken from her Mindtravellin’ EP (2010).
Already voted track of the month in Fact Magazines recent round up, single of the week at both Juno Records andSounds Of The Universe + recommended by Boomkat, Bleep and in rotation amongst the likes of Benji B (Radio 1) Toddla T (Radio 1), Sinden (Kiss FM), Scratcha DVA, Kode 9, Brackles and label boss Alexander Nut (Rinse FM).
Making up one of four tracks which feature on the full EP, Phone Line is also accompanied by ’90′s’. A wonderous, ghostly, mechanical flip which conjures thoughts of of Aaliyah, Timbaland, Static Major and Teddy Riley. Other tracks on the EP are the stuttering, sythned out p-funk vibes of ‘East To West’ and the reversed, flipped and dubbed ‘Reflex’ of 90’s.
