ROOTS BEFORE BRANCHES
5th BIRTHDAY
Saturday 24th October

NICK PRIDE & THE PIMPTONES
THE MOUSE OUTFIT
Resident DJs CHRIS ROOTS & AGENT J

THE ROADHOUSE, 8 NEWTON STREET, PICCADILLY, MANCHESTER, M1 2AN
£5 Door, £4 NUS
11pm – 3am

YOU ARE CORDIALLY INVITED TO CELEBRATE OUR 5TH BIRTHDAY!

Following our spectacular end of summer tropical funk party with
Hugo Mendez of Sofrito, RBB returns with a double pronged LIVE funk attack!

NICK PRIDE & THE PIMPTONES hail from the dirty backstreets of
blaxploitation era Newcastle, and as such sport the sharpest suits to grace
a stage since the Rat Pack. Blessed with a pounding rhythm section
reminiscent of the JBs marrying superslick horns, expect retro jazz grooves
combating soundtrack soul.. breakbeat funk!

Look out for ‘It’s The Pimptones’ on Jazz Girl records as well as their
upcoming 45 on Wack Records.

Manc upstarts THE MOUSE OUTFIT have made waves all over the UK
with their upfront brand of jump up funk powered hip hop which has seen them
garner support slots with Speech Debelle, the Nextmen, Gentlemen‘s Dub
Club, DJ Vadim and Akil the MC (Jurassic 5).

MCs Rags and D Dot X head up brass, keys, one of Manchester’s finest
guitarists and a tight ass rhythm section, totalling an 8 headed funk monster
spewing out high energy original tracks together with classic block party
breaks. About to blow up, the mice is nice.

If you aren’t already dripping in funk, get drowned in the sounds of RBB
residents Chris Roots and Agent J spinning party breaks in a birthday style!

Bring the cake.

Well, it took a while to find a stage/mixing desk/some sound, but thanks to the talents of soundman Alan and some behindthebar fiddling from D Dot X, the Mouse Outfit absolutely KILLED it yesterday in Manchester. Massive thanks to the crowd who were full of love, and massive thanks and respect to the Mouse Outfit for sticking through it and coming out the other side with one of the best gigs I’ve seen them do.

Here’s their MySpace if you’ve come here looking for them, like.
